UMBRELLA (2019)
Installation for the group exhibition "LOST N FOUND – ART for Activism" at the gallery space "The Solution" in Prague.
An umbrella, which became a symbol of the protests in Hong Kong after 2014, hangs in the space. A looped video featuring footage of police units aggressively striking demonstrators is projected directly onto the open umbrella. Hanging from the handle for the viewer is a bunch of keys, a symbol of the Velvet Revolution of 1989, alongside a question mark. Indeed, the results of the original ideals of the Velvet Revolution may be seen as questionable nowadays, as are any assessments of the future of the situation in Hong Kong, which continues to escalate every day.
